Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) ▼

Administered by Sisco

The Holland Hospital Health Plan offers you two different Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options through SISCO: a Medical Reimbursement Account (pays for eligible medical, dental, and vision care expenses that are not covered by your insurance plan) and a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (pays for eligible day care expenses). A FSA is a smart, simple way to save money. In addition, with a FSA there is much less “use it or lose it” risk. FSA is an annual election. Funds are to be used in the Plan Year. Plan Year ending 3/31/2023 will allow up to $570 to roll over to the next Plan year for medical FSA as allowed by the IRS.

  • Plan Participants can contribute up to $2,850 per plan year for health care expenses. $570 from the previous plan year is eligible to roll over to the next plan year.
  • Participants can contribute up to $5,000 per plan year for dependent care expenses.
  • Participants must re-enroll in these plans each year to participate.
  • Any money that you have not used or incurred expenses for by March 31 will be forfeited per IRS regulations (with the exception of the $570, which will rollover into the new plan year).

Limited Flexible Spending Accounts (HDHP Health Plan Participants)

The Holland Hospital Health Plan offers to the HDHP Health participants a Limited Scope Medical Reimbursement Account. A Limited Scope Medical Reimbursement Account is a pre-tax benefit account used to pay for eligible dental and vision care expenses that are not covered by your insurance plan if you are enrolled in the HDHP Medical Plan. The contribution limit is $2,850 per plan year and $570 can roll to the next plan year.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) ▼

Administered by Optum Bank

The Holland Hospital Health Plan offers Health Savings Accounts (HSA). A HSA may reimburse qualified medical expenses incurred by the account beneficiary and his or her spouse and dependents; COBRA premiums; health insurance premiums while receiving unemployment benefits; qualified long-term care premiums; and any health insurance premiums paid, other than for a Medicare supplement policy, by individuals age 65 or older. This is NOT a use-it or lose-it account—these are employees’ bank accounts and money contributed to the account by the employee is yours to keep forever (year after year). Distributions made from a HSA to reimburse the account beneficiary for eligible expenses are excluded from gross income.

Employees are allowed to contribute their own dollars as pre-tax contributions to their HSA up to the IRS allowed limits. The IRS limits for 2021 contributions to HSA accounts are below and these calendar year limits must be adhered to.

  • Single: $3,650.00
  • Family: $7,300.00

Employees age 55-64 can add another $1,000 per year. If you are enrolled in Medicare, you are unable to contribute to an HSA. Participants must re-enroll in this plan each year to participate.
