Health Savings Account (HSA) ▼

A Health Savings Account, commonly known as “HSA,” is an individual account you can open, add money to and spend on eligible health care expenses.

The HSA is Unique Because:

  • Money used for eligible expenses is not taxed.
  • Investment earnings are not taxed.
  • Money spent on eligible expenses is not taxed.
  • The money rolls over year to year.
  • You own the account and you control how the money is spent.

Eligible Expenses:
HSA money can be used tax-free for any eligible health care expenses. In general, eligible health care expenses are those that qualify toward the deductibles, copays, and coinsurance with your health insurance.

The money in your HSA must be used for eligible medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug expenses. If you use money for a dental, vision or medical expense that is not covered by the medical plan, it is important to understand that your medical plan deductible will still need to be met if an expense is incurred.

For a complete list of IRS approved Qualified Medical Expenses, visit www.irs.gov.

2024 Annual HSA contributions Limits:
(Add an extra $1,000 if you are age 55 or older)

  • Single: $4,150
  • Single+1/Family: $8,300

The Health Savings Account (HSA) is only available in combination with enrollment in an HDHP plan.

Hospital Indemnity ▼

An unexpected hospital stay can put a strain on your budget. Transamerica's Hospital Indemnity Insurance provides money you can use to help cover the costs you might not anticipate. Helping you handle expensive hospital bills lets you focus more on recovering and less on how much the next test is going to cost. Plus, the plan includes a $Dollar Amount (Varies by Client & Carrier) Wellness Indemnity Benefit for completing a covered Health Screening Test, paid once per calendar year. Enroll without answering medical questions.

  • You’ll receive a lump sum payment to use as you see fit
  • Pays on top of what your medical insurance covers
  • Coverage for hospital admissions and confinement

EOI_Icons_FSA

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) ▼

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) provide you with an important tax advantage that can help you pay for health care and dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis. By estimating your family’s health care costs for the next year, you can lower your taxable income and save money.

Health Care FSA
This program allows you to pay for certain IRS-approved medical care expenses not covered by your medical plan with pre-tax dollars. Some examples of eligible expenses include:

  • Copays and coinsurance
  • Hearing services, including hearing aids and batteries
  • Vision services, including contact lenses, contact lens solution, eye exams and eyeglasses
  • Dental services and orthodontia
  • Chiropractic services

The Health Care FSA annual contribution limit is $3,200 for 2024. Funds remaining at the end of the year, up to $640, may be rolled over for use in the next year. Claims for 2024 must be submitted by September 30, 2024.

Dependent Care FSA
You may contribute up to $5,000 per plan year to pay for qualified eligible dependent care. If both spouses participate in an account the maximum still remains at $5,000 per plan year.

Allstate Whole Life ▼

Whole life insurance is a type of permanent life insurance, which means the insured person is covered for the duration of their life as long as premiums are paid on time. Permanent life insurance is different than term life insurance, which covers the insured person for a set amount of time (usually between 10 and 30 years).

Whole life insurance is the most common type of permanent life insurance policy that people purchase, according to the Insurance Information Institute (III).

Like most permanent life insurance policies, whole life also offers a savings component called "cash value."

Short-Term Disability ▼

Short-Term Disability (STD) provides a weekly benefit for expenses incurred if you cannot work several weeks due to an illness or injury. Your doctor must certify that you are unable to return to work on a full-time or partial basis. Disabilities caused by an occupational injury or illness are not covered.

This coverage pays you a benefit of up to 60% of your weekly earnings, not to exceed $1,400 per week. The plan begins paying these benefits on the first day due to an off-the-job injury and the eighth day due to a sickness and will pay you a weekly benefit for up to 26 weeks.

You contribute 100% of the cost of this coverage. Your monthly rate: $0.51/$1,000.

Pre-Ex Conditions ▼

Pre-existing conditions refer to any medical conditions or illnesses that an individual has been diagnosed with or has received treatment for before obtaining a new health insurance policy. These conditions can include chronic illnesses, injuries, mental health issues, or other health problems. Examples of pre-existing conditions include diabetes, heart disease, cancer, asthma, and depression.

Insurance companies have historically used pre-existing conditions as a factor in determining coverage, premiums, and eligibility for new policies. However, many countries have regulations and laws that restrict or prohibit the denial of coverage or the imposition of higher premiums based on pre-existing conditions. For instance, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in the United States prohibits health insurance companies from denying coverage or charging higher premiums due to pre-existing conditions.

Trustmark Universal Life ▼

Permanent life insurance to help provide lifelong protection.

Universal life insurance is similar to other kinds of permanent life insurance (like whole life). It’s designed to last a lifetime (so your price will never increase due to age), it builds cash value and it pays your beneficiaries when you die. There are also some important differences, though:

  • Universal life is flexible, because you can adjust your premium payments within a certain range and still keep your policy in force.

  • Missing a single payment won’t automatically cancel your policy.

  • Trustmark Universal Life also offers benefits that you can receive while you’re still living.

If you’re being offered Universal LifeEvents®, your policy adjusts to your changing needs. For the same price as standard Universal Life, you get a higher death benefit during your working years, when your expenses and responsibilities are highest. When you turn 70 (and expenses are likely to be much less), the death benefit reduces to 1/3 of your original amount. The amount available for long-term care remains the same, as you are most likely to need it in older age.1

Life insurance can be an important part of every family’s financial picture, and your plans may be suited to several different types of life insurance as your needs change. Permanent life insurance like Trustmark Universal Life gives you a solid base to build on. Since you own your policy, you can keep it for life, even if you change jobs or retire. And if you need extra protection (for example, while you have a mortgage to pay on a home), term life insurance can help you close the gap.

Guaranteed Issue ▼

Guaranteed issue is a term used in the context of health insurance that refers to policies which must be offered to any eligible applicant without regard to health status, age, gender, or other factors. This means that an insurance company cannot deny coverage to individuals who apply for insurance, regardless of any pre-existing conditions they may have.

Key features of guaranteed issue include:

  1. No Medical Underwriting: Insurance companies cannot require medical exams or health history questionnaires to determine eligibility.
  2. Coverage for All: All applicants within the eligible group or category must be accepted.
  3. Standardized Premiums: While premiums may vary based on factors like age or location, they cannot vary based on health status or pre-existing conditions.
